MOUNT VERNON — A 52-year-old man has been charged with killing his 76-year-old mother north of Seattle in the town of Lyman.
The Skagit Valley Herald reported that Gordon Lee Conard was charged Friday and is being held in jail on $1 million bail.
Margie Conard’s death has been ruled homicide due to blunt force trauma. Her body was found June 23 in a Lyman home after a friend who had not heard from her in several days requested a welfare check.
Court documents say police also found Gordon Conard in the home and say he told them the two had been arguing but that he “blacked out.”
He allegedly told deputies the argument didn’t happen that day or the day before and that he had not called 911 because he knew she was dead.
