SEATTLE — Authorities in Seattle said a man is dead after he dropped from the 11th floor of the luxury Fairmont Olympic Hotel.
Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said officers were called to the hotel Monday afternoon to investigate an apparent suicide. Witt and Fire Department Lt. Sue Stangl said the man cleared a row of trees and landed nearly in the middle of a downtown street. Passersby attempted CPR but Stangl said the man was declared dead at the scene.
He was not immediately identified.
The Seattle Times said traffic was temporarily closed on University Street while the death was investigated.
