A Mount Vernon man was killed and a Lynnwood man was injured in a collision on Highway 9 north of Sedro-Woolley on Sunday, according to the State Patrol.
Sergio Garcia-Rangel, 23, of Mount Vernon was traveling northbound about 2:15 p.m. when his BMW went off the road to the right, striking the guardrail, the State Patrol said. The car then veered back to the left, crossing the center line and colliding with a pickup truck driven by Brady J. Quinlan, 27, of Lynnwood.
Garcia-Rangel was pronounced dead at the scene. Quinlan was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, where he was treated and released.
The accident occurred about seven miles north of Sedro-Woolley. It was not known as of late Sunday whether alcohol was involved.
