STEILACOOM — West Pierce Fire and Rescue says a freight train struck and killed a man about 8 p.m. Monday on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks in Steilacoom.
Assistant fire marshal Hallie McCurdy told The News Tribune that the train was going 40 to 50 miles per hour when the crew saw the man lying on the tracks. The train didn’t have time to stop.
