A 56-year-old registered sex offender was charged Wednesday with three counts of possessing child pornography that he allegedly downloaded from the Internet.
Homer Daniel Hirst of Everett was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives arrested him after he gave them permission to examine his computer and disks.
Hirst was convicted in 1989 of indecent liberties, deputy prosecutor Craig Matheson said in charging papers.
Hirst first came to the attention of law enforcement after a complaint that he molested a 4-year-old boy. He assured officers that he’s not interested in boys, but admitted that he had a strong interest in young girls, Matheson said. He allegedly said that he likes to search the Internet for pornography and that it was easy to find pictures of girls on the Internet.
Deputies found "multiple images of young girls that were clearly prepubescent engaged in sexually explicit conducts," Matheson said.
