MONROE — The man fatally struck by a train late on Friday was identified as Mark McClure.
McClure, 33, of Sultan was struck by an eastbound freight train on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway line west of the Kelsey Street crossing, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said. Medics rushed McClure to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The train’s engineer reportedly told police he saw a man crawl across the track just before the collision, Willis said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
