MONROE — A man hit by a train Thursday evening in downtown Monroe is expected to survive, police said.
The man, 62, tried to cross the railroad tracks in the 300 block of East Main Street. He was hit shortly after 6 p.m., according to police reports.
Witnesses said he walked around the warning signs, deputy chief Cherie Harris said. Police believe he had been drinking.
The man was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Harris said.
