EVERETT — Detectives are seeking witnesses to a Saturday shooting outside a downtown restaurant that left a man seriously injured.
Reports of a gunshot brought police to the McDonald’s at Everett Avenue and Broadway just after 11 a.m., Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The victim, 41, from Kentucky, reportedly was in an altercation in the parking lot with a 61-year-old Marysville man, who is a regular at the restaurant.
Witnesses told police the victim was in the parking lot when the suspect arrived. Detectives don’t believe the two men know each other, Goetz said. The victim reportedly had some kind of argument with the suspect.
The suspect told police that, after he returned from the restaurant, the victim allegedly reached into his pickup truck and tried to grab his wallet and cell phone. The suspect shot the man in the lower part of his torso, Goetz said.
Everett Major Crimes detectives are looking for witnesses to help them figure out what happened. They want to talk to the people who were at the restaurant or outside at the time of the incident and left before the police arrived, Goetz said. Anyone with information is asked to call the police tip line at 425-257-8450.
The suspect remained on scene after the shooting and was cooperating with police. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault, Goetz said.
Medics drove the victim to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he underwent surgery and was in serious condition on Saturday, Goetz said.
