LAKE STEVENS – A man shot to death in Lake Stevens by Snohomish County deputies late Friday had a lengthy criminal history, including being shot before by police in Seattle, records show.
Kevin Arthur Cline, 34, of Shoreline died Friday after being shot in the abdomen, the county medical examiner said Monday.
Witnesses said deputies shot Cline in a Lake Stevens parking lot after the man repeatedly rammed his Dodge Durango at another sport utility vehicle while trying to evade arrest.
The shooting investigation is being conducted by the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team, with Everett police as the lead agency. Everett police Sgt. Cheryl Braley said the case remained under investigation Monday, and no additional information was immediately available.
Cline had multiple felony convictions, the most serious for robbery, assault and a firearms violation. Most of those charges were filed in late 1998.
That’s when Cline was shot by a member of the Seattle police SWAT team after he pointed a handgun at officers, according to a 1998 story in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Officers were trying to arrest Cline on a probation violation. He had been pointing the gun at his own head, according to published reports.
