LYNNWOOD — Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives were trying to figure out what led to a stabbing early Monday morning in Lynnwood.
Police first learned about the attack about 1:30 a.m. when a Washington State Patrol trooper checked on a car parked alongside I-5 near I-405, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The woman in the car told the trooper that she had been raped and that she’d stabbed her alleged attacker, Hover said.
Based on their investigation, however, detectives booked the woman into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault, Hover said.
Deputies went to the address where the woman reported the assault occurred, an apartment in the 3600 block of 156th Street SW in unincorporated Lynnwood.
They found a man, 55, with multiple stab wounds. He was slipping in and out of consciousness and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Detectives believe the woman, 26, and the man know each other, although their relationship wasn’t immediately clear.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation prior to booking.
