ABERDEEN — A man in a wheelchair was watching the wind during Tuesday night’s storm when he was fatally injured by a 60-foot section of tree falling on the porch of his home at Central Park, near Aberdeen on the Washington Coast.
The Grays Harbor sheriff’s office told The Daily World the man, 74, was with his brother, who also was in a wheelchair at the home they shared. He was not injured and called for help.
The injured man was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital, where he died.
Winds gusted to 68 mph at Bowerman Field in nearby Hoquiam during the storm.
The Washington State Patrol reports an Aberdeen man was injured when he drove into a tree that had fallen on Highway 101 about 40 miles north of Hoquiam.
