MONROE – A 19-year-old man was killed Saturday evening in an apparent hunting accident south of Monroe.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened about 6:40 p.m. in the 19400 block of Tualco Loop Road. Deputies say the victim, who was hunting with friends, was shot by another hunter.
Friends attempted resuscitation on the victim, but he died at the scene. Monroe aid units also responded.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office has not released the victim’s name.
No arrests were made. Detectives investigated, but sheriff’s office spokesman Sunday said it appears to have been an accidental shooting.
Sultan: Startup man struck by train
A 30-year-old Startup man was struck by a train and killed about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Sultan Police Chief Fred Walser said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, had been drinking in a Sultan tavern shortly before the incident. He was asked to leave the establishment because he had consumed too much alcohol, Walser said.
The man apparently walked behind the tavern, where there are Burlington Northern-Santa Fe tracks. A freight train struck and killed him, Walser said.
