A man charged with kidnapping a man to get back at him for possibly stealing a video game was sentenced to six months in jail Tuesday, the last of several Ukrainian nationals prosecuted for the Sept. 4 assault of a man in Everett.
Grigoriy Valeryevich Bolotin, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping. He gets credit for time served and likely won’t have to spend any more time in jail, Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Thomas Wynne said.
Two other adults and two juveniles also were punished for the crime.
Yuri Anatolievich Samofal, also 21, pleaded guilty earlier to fourth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor, and was sentenced to a year in jail.
Deputy prosecutor Chris Dickinson said the main participant, Yevgeniv V. Andrusiv, 20, went to trial and was found guilty of first-degree kidnapping. He was sentenced to a five-year prison term.
Two younger teens were handled in Snohomish County Juvenile Court and were put behind bars for several weeks, Dickinson said. All the defendants are Everett residents.
The five were convicted of forcing a man into a car, beating him and driving him to the Lake Stevens area. The men eventually returned to Everett when police contacted them on a cell phone.
