BELLINGHAM — A 19-year-old man accused of breaking into a Bellingham apartment, beating the resident and holding the occupants at gunpoint has been sentenced to six years in prison.
The Bellingham Herald reports that 19-year-old Datyous Mahmoudian was sentenced on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree burglary and three counts of second-degree assault.
Prosecutors say Mahmoudian and two other men forced their way into an apartment in January, used zip ties to restrain a woman inside and held guns to the heads of two men. Mahmoudian is accused of pistol-whipping one of the men.
Mahmoudian was arrested at the scene and other suspects escaped. Over the next few months three other men were arrested in connection to the break-in. Two have been sentenced. A third is awaiting trial and has pleaded not guilty.
