SEATTLE (AP) — A shooting at a new homeless encampment near Seattle’s recently cleaned out “Jungle” has left a man in critical condition.
KOMO-TV reported that the shooting Sunday night came just days after the city evicted hundreds of people from the Jungle, a sprawling and semi-lawless camp along Interstate 5 south of downtown. Despite efforts to get many of the former residents services or other housing, many simply moved to another camp nearby, near Airport Way South and Royal Brougham Way.
The victim was shot in the neck. Police say they’re looking for the gunman.
A shell casing was found at the scene, but investigators say a witness to the shooting is not cooperating.
