EVERETT — The man shot by police last week outside a busy Mill Creek shopping center has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
The Everett man, 31, was arrested for investigation of two counts of first-degree robbery and one count each of second-degree assault and eluding police. He also had two unrelated warrants for his arrest from Marysville, involving possession of stolen property and having a loaded pistol in a vehicle.
The man was booked into jail Thursday afternoon. He likely will make an appearance later today in Everett District Court.
He and , Eric M. Johnson II, 24, of Seattle, allegedly led police on a wild chase after an armed carjacking on the U.S. 2 trestle. The chase ended in gunfire outside the Everett Mall and the Mill Creek Fred Meyer.
Johnson has been charged with first-degree robbery and eluding police. He is being held on $250,000 bail. The man booked into jail Thursday had been at a Seattle hospital recovering from gunshot wounds.
The rush-hour police pursuit, robberies and shooting caused accidents and other chaos on the roadways between Lake Stevens, Everett and Mill Creek, and panic at the mall and Fred Meyer shopping center on 132nd Street SE.
It all started with a car prowl in Lake Stevens, followed by a police chase of a pickup truck to the U.S. 2 trestle east of Everett where the fleeing truck stalled.
At that point, the men allegedly stole a woman’s Mazda at gunpoint and raced off. When they were spotted again in south Everett, officers in cars and a police helicopter followed them to the Everett Mall.
Two men bailed out and ran, allegedly still carrying guns. The older man hijacked a pickup truck and sped off to Fred Meyer. An officer fired a single shot in the direction of the fleeing truck. Johnson was arrested at the mall.
An Everett police sergeant shot the other man outside the Fred Meyer after he allegedly attempted to run into some woods behind the store.
