MARYSVILLE — Police are searching for a man who reportedly shot another man in the leg early this morning during what was reported as a burglary.
Hospital staff notified Marysville police just after 1:30 a.m. that they were treating a man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police interviewed the 32-year-old man at the hospital.
The victim told police he apparently surprised a burglar.
He said the shooting happened at the house where he is staying located in the 14200 block of 55th Avenue NE. He and his cousin were returning home and he went to open the garage door. His cousin stayed with the car. Once inside the garage, the victim said he was confronted by a man with a gun. The suspect shot him in the leg and then fled into the house, the man told police.
The wounded man told police he thought he heard another person in the house and then thought he heard them leave.
Marysville police went to the house and found all the doors locked. Detectives were called out to investigate the assault and burglary. The shooting victim was treated at an area hospital then sent home.
The suspect is described as a white man with shaggy hair. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call detective John Hendrickson at 360-363-8300.
