ARLINGTON – A fit of road rage erupted in gunfire Thursday night when someone in a car shot at a pickup truck carrying three people, injuring the driver, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rich Niebusch said.
The victim, a 21-year-old man from Arlington, was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus. He was in stable condition on Friday, Niebusch said.
The Arlington man and two others in the pickup were heading north on Highway 9 about 10:05 p.m. They were following a white car, described as a late-1980s sedan, Niebusch said.
The car pulled off the highway and let the pickup pass as it neared 252nd Street NE. Then the car pulled back onto the road and followed the vehicle toward the intersection. A gunshot rang out as the pickup turned onto the street, witnesses told detectives.
The Arlington man told his passengers hed been shot.
Detectives are looking for the car and its occupants, a man and woman who appeared to be in their late 40s to early 60s, Niebusch said.
He urged anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 425-388-3845.
