OAK HARBOR — A man who was shot Sunday while reportedly causing a disturbance at his neighbor’s house was released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday.
He was instead being held at the Island County Jail in suspicion of second-degree assault and violating a no-contact order, police said. Bail was set Tuesday for $100,000, according to an Island County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The man, 63, reportedly was arguing with a neighbor shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday. The neighbor had previously filed a no-contact order against the man.
The man allegedly became aggressive and hit the neighbor with his car. The neighbor reportedly fired a handgun, striking the man. He was afraid the man would run over him with the car, police said.
The neighbor had bruises and separated a joint in his shoulder.
The Island County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
