SNOHOMISH — A man spent seven hours perched in a tree here Thursday in an unsuccessful attempt at avoiding arrest.
The man, 35, was wanted in connection with an apparent domestic violence incident.
At about 4:30 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend had attacked her after breaking into her home in the 800 block of 13th Street, said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The man ran away, but returned and was confronted by law officers.
Instead of surrendering, he climbed a large tree on the property.
After hours of attempts to talk him down, deputies asked a crew from Fire District 4 in Snohomish to douse the man with water from a fire hose.
“Around noon, the man asked for assistance to come down from the tree,” Ireton said in a press release.
He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for treatment of possible hypothermia.
He was expected to be booked into jail for investigation of second-degree assault.
