LYNNWOOD — Sheriff’s detectives were investigating an early morning assault Monday near Lynnwood that sent one man to the hospital after he was struck with a shotgun.
Snohomish County deputies were called to a mobile home in the 14300 block of Admiralty Way after a report that a man who was
shot in the head. Detectives were trying to sort out if the man’s injuries were from having been smacked with the shotgun or if he also was struck by pellets.
The man, 49, told TV stations he was grazed by a pellet. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where he was treated and released.
“We don’t really know at this point,” sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said Monday afternoon. “It looked like he had been struck and the weapon went off.”
Investigators were waiting to get a description of the injury from a medical report.
The gunshot left pellets in a wall, Lt. Rodney Rochon said.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit searched the home for evidence Monday.
The man answered the back door of his home in the Serene Terrace Mobile Home Park and a disturbance ensued, witnesses told detectives.
“We believe it was not a random act,” Brand said.
A motive for the attack was not immediately clear, Rochon said.
“We have no suspects,” Rochon said. “We don’t even have a good description.”
The man is awaiting trial on drug charges, according to court records. Prosecutors allege he sold heroin in January 2010 to a confidential informant working for police.
Monday’s 911 call came in around 2:45 a.m. and patrol deputies used a police dog in their search.
The victim lives at the home in a mobile home park with his girlfriend and another roommate.
