Man surrenders after standoff

ARLINGTON — A SWAT team was called Wednesday evening to negotiate a peaceful resolution after a man began shooting and barricaded himself in his home.

Police received several complaints of a man firing shots starting at 2:45 p.m. in the area of McRae Road, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.

Police converged on the home and the man surrendered around 6 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The SWAT team was called to the 17000 block of McRae Road when the man barricaded himself inside what investigators believed to be his house, Brand said.

The suspect is a 38-year-old man police have dealt with before, Brand said.

Police believe the suspect has a history of mental illness.
