Man taken to hospital: A 22-year-old Lynnwood man was transported to an Everett hospital Sunday afternoon for observation after he struggled to get untangled from an area in Martha Lake filled with lily pads, said Capt. Dan Olson, of Snohomish County Fire District 1. The man had apparently been trying to help some others in the water at about 4:30 p.m. when he got tangled in the water plants, Olson said.
Fire damages empty house: A fire that ripped through the top level of an empty house in 13600 block of 29th Avenue SE caused about $120,000 worth of damage.
Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7 battled the 6:15 p.m. Sunday blaze in about 20 minutes, said Capt. Dan Olson, of District 1.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor of the one-story, daylight basement home.
No one was home at the time, Olson said. The fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office.
