TRACY, Calif. — A California teen who lives near where an 8-year-old girl’s body was found in a suitcase says he saw a man acting strangely at the irrigation pond where the remains were later recovered.
Stephen Memory said Friday that he has spoken to the FBI about what he saw.
The 19-year-old said he thought it was odd to see a beige Chevrolet Silverado truck parked on the shoulder of the road facing in the wrong direction on the afternoon of April 3. Sandra Cantu’s body was found April 6.
Memory said the driver was a white man in his late 40s or early 50s. He said the man appeared to be looking down at the ditch beside the road.
The FBI referred questions to Tracy police, who declined to comment on the investigation.
