LYNNWOOD — The FBI is trying to identify a man who may have robbed as many as 12 banks in Snohomish and King counties.
The robber picks bank branches inside busy grocery stores along Highway 99 and the Bothell-Everett Highway, where few people are even aware of the robbery until he’s gone, FBI officials said Tuesday.
He presents a teller with a note that demands money and indicates he has a gun, although he has not displayed a weapon, the FBI said. He stuffs the money in his pants and leaves.
The most recent holdup occurred about 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the north Lynnwood branch of Washington Mutual Bank inside the QFC store in the 17500 block of Highway 99. The robber left with an undisclosed sum of money.
Witnesses describe the robber as a white man, 35 to 45 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches, 180 pounds, with a brown mustache. He wears street clothes, typically jeans with a baseball hat, and sunglasses. Recently he began wearing a brown wig.
Agents ask anyone with information to call the FBI at 206-622-0460.
