A man who was seriously wounded Sunday night in a gunfight with Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies said he was upset by the recent breakup with his girlfriend, according to court documents filed Thursday in Everett District Court.
The 48-year-old Lake Goodwin man remains in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He’s under investigation for first-degree assault after he allegedly pointed a loaded pistol at deputies who were trying to contact him, documents said.
The shooting happened soon after the suspect and another man got into an argument at the Roadhouse Bar and Grill in the 4900 block of Lakewood Road. Deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun at the establishment.
The second man told investigators he met the suspect that night and went outside with the suspect to smoke and talk. The man said that the suspect attacked him, and he asked employees at the bar to call police.
The suspect left the establishment for a short time and returned with a revolver. The witness left the bar, drove home and called police.
Deputies found the suspect a half block from the bar, and tried to get him to come out from behind a utility pole.
He pulled the pistol from his waistband and pointed it at deputies. Two of the officers fired their guns and the suspect went down.
Everett police officers are investigating because another police agency was involved in the shooting. Officers recovered a holster and three boxes of ammunition from the suspect’s truck parked at the bar, documents said.
