LAKE GOODWIN – Two Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies wounded a man in a shootout Sunday night near a Lake Goodwin tavern.
Witnesses said the Lake Goodwin man, 48, pulled a handgun during an argument with another man about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the Road House Tavern, 4915 Lakewood Road, Everett Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.
The two men left and the tavern owner closed and locked the door, then called 911, Bryant said.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found the armed man about one block away from the tavern. They confronted the man and “multiple shots were fired by both the suspect and the deputies,” Bryant said.
The man was hit by at least one bullet, he said. Neither of the deputies was hurt.
Marysville Fire Department medics took the man to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus, where he was being treated for a serious wound, Bryant said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Snohomish Multi-Agency Response Team because sheriff’s deputies were involved in the shooting. Everett police are investigating.
One of the deputies has worked for the sheriff’s office for 14 years; the other for two, Bryant said. They were placed on administrative leave during the investigation, which is routine.
Lakewood Road was closed until 4:30 a.m. while detectives gathered evidence at the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Everett Police Department’s tip line at 425-257-8450.
