ARLINGTON — A man’s body was found in the Stillaguamish River south of River Meadows Park on Sunday afternoon, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
A kayaker saw the body in the river at about 5:30 p.m. and told a county park ranger, who in turn called police, said Lt. Susy Johnson of the Sheriff’s Office.
No information was available on the age or identity of the body, except that it was that of an adult male, Johnson said late Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office water rescue unit used a hovercraft to locate the body, with help from local firefighters. The Sheriff’s Office major crimes unit was on the scene but it’s not known if foul play was involved, how the man died or how long the body was in the river, Johnson said.
The body was not pulled from the river until 9:40 p.m., she said. The body was found in the river near the 14600 block of Jordan Road.
It’s also not known if the body matches up with anyone reported missing.
“There’s nothing that I know of that we’re expecting this body to be related to,” she said.
