MONROE — Rescuers pulled a man from the Snohomish River on Monday morning but were unable to revive him.
The man’s pickup was located on Highway 522 west of town. A witness reported seeing the man lying on his stomach on the guardrail of the bridge spanning the river. The man disappeared, and rescue crews from Monroe Fire and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office began searching the water below.
A helicopter crew from the King County Sheriff’s Office spotted the man, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said. Crews on the river pulled the man to shore and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They were unable to revive him.
There is no indication of foul play. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy.
