Rhianna McDonald-Speer recently worked for a week as a page for Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds.
Rhianna, a freshman at Mariner High School, enjoys swimming, playing basketball and reading. Her parents are Michelle Bigliatto and Scott Speer.
“Seeing how much effort it takes to pass a bill that eventually can become a law, that helps hold our society together” was the most valuable aspect of the page program, Rhianna said.
Youths ages 14 to 16 can serve as pages for one week of the legislative session in Olympia, where they learn about the legislative process. Pages deliver mail, relay messages and attend page school.
