MARYSVILLE — A 10-year-old girl was seriously hurt after being struck by a car while riding a bike Wednesday afternoon.
Medics were called to the 7900 block of 80th Avenue NE about 4:30 p.m., Marysville Fire District spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said. The girl was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
She was listed later on Wednesday in critical condition, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
Investigators learned that the car that struck the girl was southbound on 80th Avenue NE when the girl rode her bicycle between two parked vehicles into the path of the oncoming car, Lamoureux said. The girl wasn’t wearing a helmet. She suffered severe head injuries.
“It sadly appears to be that the young girl rode her bike straight into traffic and the driver had no time to react,” Lamoureux said.
