MARYSVILLE — Fire investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that damaged a house under construction on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were summoned about 7 a.m. Crews found light smoke coming from the home, located in the 5800 block of 116th Street NE. The flames coming from under the house were quickly extinguished, Marysville Fire Department spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. Preliminary reports indicated that the fire was set intentionally, Thorstenson said.
There is no indication the fire was the work of an environmental extremist group, said Gary Bontrager, an investigator with the fire marshal’s office.
The fire likely was set by juveniles, he added. Investigators found some vandalism to another nearby house, Bontrager said.
The damage was estimated at $10,000. No one was injured. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the county fire marshal at 425-388-3557.
