A Marysville man was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree child rape and possessing child pornography after admitting sexual contact with two girls ages 4 and 10.
Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Craig Matheson said bail was set at $500,000 in Snohomish County Superior Court for Christopher George Schlosser, 30.
Sexual abuse of the 10-year-old child occurred for at least three years, Matheson said. He said abuse of the 4-year-old had been going on for a year.
The abuse came to light after the older girl told friends about what was being done to her. The friends told a school counselor. The girl was interviewed by a child-interview specialist, with a sheriff’s detective and a Child Protective Service worker present.
Matheson said the older girl contemplated running away from home because of the abuse.
Schlosser was arrested on Tuesday. In an interview with police, he confirmed the girl’s story, including that the last time sexual contact occurred was the previous evening, the deputy prosecutor said.
Schlosser also said the abuse started after he began viewing child pornography on the Internet, Matheson said.
