MARYSVILLE – The death of a Marysville man was being investigated Wednesday after he collapsed during an early-morning struggle involving Marysville police and Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies. The 35-year-old man died at an apartment in the 8300 block of 53rd Drive NE in unincorporated Marysville. His death was being investigated by a special team of detectives made up from police departments around the county, said Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant, the team’s spokesman. The man was “highly agitated” and punched a deputy who was called to the home at 3:48 a.m., Bryant said. He continued to struggle after a second deputy arrived. He wasn’t subdued and placed into handcuffs until after three Marysville officers arrived to assist, Bryant said. The man remained agitated and began to show signs of distress. Marysville paramedics were called. “On their arrival, as they began to attend to the suspect, the suspect expired at the scene,” Bryant said. Everett police began an investigation at the request of the sheriff’s office. Local police have agreements that allow deaths involving police officers to be investigated by detectives from outside police departments. The deputies and police officers involved in Wednesday’s struggle were placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation
