MARYSVILLE — A Marysville man was shot early Tuesday in a gun battle that broke out during an apparent home-invasion robbery, police reported.
The gunfire erupted just after 2 a.m. at a home in the 3200 block of Sunnyside Boulevard, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
Somebody tried to kick in the door at the home. Inside were a man, 47, and two women, 26 and 19.
The man went to the door with a handgun. That’s when the bullets flew. He was struck in the abdomen.
Police were called but the intruders were gone. The wounded man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. He was expected to survive, Lamoureux said.
Police believe up to three people were involved in the attack and that the home was specifically targeted for robbery.
“We are very comfortable this was not a random home invasion robbery and there is no additional threat to our law abiding community members,” Lamoureux said in a press release.
