MARYSVILLE — Puppets, catapults and jesters will be on display at the Marysville Middle School medieval fair next week.
The event is the culmination of weeks of study by seventh graders at the school. Each student was charged with researching a medieval topic, writing a paper on it and designing a project around it.
The fair is meant to showcase all that students have learned and give them a chance to share with others.
“It’s probably our biggest unit of the year,” said literacy and social studies teacher Che-Mai Gray. “Nearly every student presents.”
Students must trace their research topic to current times. For example, students focusing on torture in the middle ages have also explored practices at the Guantanamo Bay prison, Gray said.
Other topics include fashion, food, entertainment, law and punishment.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 21 at the school, 4923 67th St. NE It will be held at on the football field or inside both gyms if it rains.
Everyone is welcome.
