MARYSVILLE — The school board this week appointed Linda Whitehead as acting superintendent, taking over the duties of superintendent Richard "Dick" Eisenhauer until his resignation becomes effective Aug. 31. Eisenhauer has accepted a job in Lincoln, Neb.
On Sept. 1, Whitehead officially becomes the district’s superintendent. Whitehead was promoted from her position as an assistant superintendent overseeing the human resources department, a post that covers everything from labor contract negotiations to recruiting teachers.
She spent seven years in the classroom, beginning her career at an urban New Jersey high school, where she taught special education students with severe behavior disorders. She became a vice principal, then principal, and later had directorships of alternative and special-education programs.
She took on similar leadership positions in the Lake Washington School District before being hired by Marysville two years ago.
Eisenhauer was hired in 1996 after serving a three-year stint as superintendent of the Stevens Point Area School District in central Wisconsin. Eisenhauer also served as superintendent of the Roseburg School District in Oregon for 10 years and as superintendent in Chadron, Neb., for five years before that.
