MONROE — An 87-year-old Marysville woman died Saturday, four days after a head-on collision that sent two others to the hospital.
Police believe the driver of the oncoming vehicle may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The collision happened July 4 just before 7:30 p.m. The woman and her son-in-law, 64, both from Marysville, were driving on U.S. 2 in a Chevrolet Malibu. They were approaching the highway’s intersection with Roosevelt Road.
An Arlington woman, 54, was driving east in a Chevrolet Blazer. Witnesses said she was swerving before she ran a red light to make a left turn. The Blazer collided with the Malibu.
The Arlington woman and Marysville man were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Snohomish County medical examiner is expected to release the cause and manner of the woman’s death.
