MARYSVILLE — She had tried to end the relationship.
Two weeks ago, she told him to move out. She changed her locks and took to sleeping on the couch, away from the converted garage where her ex-boyfriend lived.
The two-year relationship between the Marysville woman, 65, and John F. Weible soured recently over money issues and his ever-growing temper, according to a police affidavit filed Thursday in Everett District Court.
Then, just after noon Wednesday, witnesses said they saw Weible arrive at the Marysville home. She was inside spending time with three of her teenage daughters and friends.
They saw Weible pacing in the street in front of the home, Snohomish County sheriff’s detective Scott Wells wrote in his report.
Moments later, police believe Weible came into the home through the garage armed with a revolver.
He reportedly said he had nothing to live for anymore. The former couple argued and he allegedly pointed the firearm at her.
The woman tried to knock the handgun free with a kitchen chair.
As many as five shots rang out, the court document said. Her children and friends watched in horror.
The woman was shot in the shoulder and a single bullet passed into her chest, doctors later determined, according to the report.
She fell to the kitchen floor, blood pouring from her wounds, the report said.
A neighbor told detectives he heard three muffled shots inside the home and then saw an older man stumble out the front door in a hurry before driving off, Wells wrote.
Weible was arrested within an hour near Oso. He reportedly told Snohomish County deputies there was a gun in his vehicle.
Detectives believe Weible changed his clothes after the shooting.
On Thursday, the woman was recovering at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The woman and her adult son had taken steps to formally ask Weible to leave, the detective wrote. On June 29, they sat down with him and gave him a home-made eviction notice.
After that meeting, Weible allegedly posted false information about the woman on the Internet site Facebook, claiming she was stealing from him and had a gambling problem. He reportedly also was angry that the woman unplugged his computer, the police report said.
Weible was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault. A judge protem ordered him held Thursday in lieu of $200,000 bail.
