MONROE — An armed man in a mask is suspected of robbing two gas stations early Sunday in the Monroe area, according to police.
An employee had been in a back room of the store in the 13800 block of Fryelands Boulevard when he heard someone enter around 1:45 a.m. He went out to greet a customer but found a man in a black hoodie, dark clothes and a Guy Fawkes mask, the kind used in the movie “V for Vendetta,” police said. The robber aimed a handgun at the employee.
“Give me the money,” he said, according to the report.
The gunman took the register drawer and ran south out of the store toward Lake Tye.
An almost identical report of an armed robbery had come in about a half-hour earlier from a Chevron station in the 21500 block of Bostian Road, about 8 miles south of the Shell station. The suspect description matched, and the man took a register drawer full of cash, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
No one was injured in either incident.
