MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE — Another 15 airmen from McChord Air Force Base are on their way today to Haiti.
The members of the 62nd Aerial Port Squadron are specialists in airfield operations and will help manage the earthquake relief flights crowding the airport at Port-au-Prince. The single runway that averaged three flights a day before the quake is now averaging more than 170 take-offs and landings.
Master Sgt. Chris Haylett says four McChord cargo planes that departed earlier in the week are helping carry supplies to Haiti and helping with evacuations.
