State Sen. Joe McDermott, D-Seattle, closed out his 10-year career in the state Legislature tonight.
He issued a brief speech and and a load of thank yous.
He is running for King County Council Position 8 which is the seat held by Dow Constantine before he became the county executive.
Earlier this year, the council appointed former Seattle City Council President Jan Drago to fill the seat.
McDermott sought the appointment but the council deadlocked 4-4 on his appointment and the council wound up choosing Drago.
