TACOMA — A sex predator confined at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island is accused of using a pay phone to order nearly $1.5 million in merchandise that an accomplice tried to pay for with bad checks.
The News Tribune reports Jeffery Robinson and a Florida man accused as his accomplice were indicted in federal court. Robinson is scheduled to be arraigned next week in Tacoma on charges of wire and mail fraud.
He has been involuntarily committed since 2003 when he was found to be a sexually violent offender in King County.
Court records say he used a pay phone at the center to order goods to be delivered to the man in Florida. Many items were delivered before the companies discovered the checks were bad.
