JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD — About 100 soldiers from a medical headquarters unit are returning to Joint Base Lewis-McChord after a year in Afghanistan.
Base spokeswoman Catherine Caruso says about 30 members of the 62nd Medical Brigade have already made their way back and 70 are due on a Monday night flight.
They directed and supported the work of about 2,000 people at 32 treatment facilities.
Caruso says about 1,000 JBLM soldiers remain in Afghanistan and 500 in Iraq.
