SHELTON — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-car collision near Shelton that killed a woman and injured a male driver.
Detective William Adam said Andrea Tyrone, 53, of Shelton, died in Monday evening’s crash. Witnesses reported seeing her car cross the center lane and crash head-on into a pickup truck driving in the opposite direction.
Adam says preliminary reports show Tyrone may have had medical issues that could have been a factor in the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck, Brian Phipps, 47, of Shelton, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is in the hospital intensive care unit in stable condition.
A spokesman with the Mason County coroner’s office says it’s too early to know what medical conditions Tyrone may have had. An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday.
