Everett: Man arrested on kidnapping charges
An Everett man who allegedly locked a 9-year-old girl inside a laundry room Thursday was arrested on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping.
The man, 20, allegedly pulled the girl inside the laundry room with him, Everett police Sgt. Cheryl Braley said. The girl’s mother found her, and the girl escaped unharmed.
The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 100 block of W. Casino Road.
The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail. He was also held on a warrant for negligent driving.
Police handed out more than a dozen tickets Friday during an undercover sting at a busy intersection.
A plainclothes officer was watching for drivers running red lights and blocking the intersection at Evergreen Way and E. Casino Road.
Officers stopped 51 drivers and handed out three tickets to drivers who ran a red light and 11 tickets to drivers who blocked the intersection.
Two other traffic tickets where written, and two criminal citations were given out.
This is the second time this summer Everett officers have targeted the intersection. It won’t be the last, Sgt. Dan Templeman said.
“Drivers should pay attention because you just never know when an officer will be out at these intersections,” he said.
The patrol was funded in part by a grant from the state Traffic Safety Commission.
