A memorial service will be Friday for Jim Londo of Everett, who died when a small plane crashed in southwest Washington.
Jim Londo, 60, pulled his unconscious brother, Bob Londo, from the burning wreckage after the plane went down in bad weather near Toutle on Saturday, family members said.
Bob Londo’s son, Kaiser Londo, 16, was also on board.
Bob Londo, of Medina, went for help Sunday morning, walking barefoot about three miles and leaving a trail of wreckage to guide rescuers to the crash site.
A driver on a logging road picked him up. Jim Londo was still alive when searchers arrived at the crash site, but they were not able to save him.
Bob Londo and his son were taken to St. John Medical Center in Longview. Kaiser Londo was treated for a broken arm and released.
Bob Londo, who suffered burns to his face and legs, was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. The probe is expected to take six months to a year.
Jim Londo is survived by his wife, Julie Londo, sons Michael and Jay Londo, and four siblings.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the new Glasair aviation hangar at Arlington Airport, 18810 59th Ave. NE.
