PORT ORCHARD – A mentally ill man found guilty of fatally stabbing a mental health worker sent to his home to help him was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Superior Court Judge Theodore Spearman on Wednesday issued the sentence, which was recommended by both the defense and the prosecution under a plea agreement reached with Larry W. Clark on Oct. 13.
Clark, 34, was a convicted sex offender before the November 2005 stabbing of Marty Smith, 46, which was the first homicide in Poulsbo in 18 years, authorities said.
Smith was killed while making an evaluation for Kitsap Mental Health to determine if Clark should be committed for treatment, police said.
