SEATTLE — An elementary school student from Mercer Island has been named a finalist in a national braille competition.
Holly Cramer is one of 12 finalists among third and fourth graders from the United States and Canada.
The final winners in the braille challenge will be determined in June a day-long challenge at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles.
The students are testing on reading comprehension, spelling, chart and graph reading, proofreading and speed and accuracy.
Sixty finalists from the U.S. and Canada were announced this week.
