A Mill Creek police officer on bicycle patrol early Saturday was hurt when a man driving a sport utility vehicle bumped into him and fled.
The man driving the SUV, an Israeli national, 24, ran several red lights as police chased him, according to a police affidavit. Police arrested the man after he had lost control of the borrowed Dodge Durango he was driving. The cashed ended in a rollover crash.
The officer was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. He suffered a deep leg bruise and was expected to return to work this week, Mill Creek police officials said.
The driver also was treated and released the night of the incident for minor scrapes and bruises. Police are investigating if the man was drinking at the time, according to court documents. He allegedly refused to take blood alcohol tests.
The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of felony hit-and-run and third-degree assault.
